The Greene County, Mississippi Economic Development Department is under the authority of the

Greene County Board of Supervisors.​

INFRASTRUCTURE

  • State Highway 63/57 is 33 miles of four-lane highway running generally north and south from the south-central part of the county to the northeast corner of the county.

  • U. S. Highway 98 is 14 miles of four-lane highway in the southwestern quadrant of the county.

  • These four-lane highways connect to nearby Interstate Highways in three directions. Interstate 59 is 45 minutes West, Interstate 10 is 45 minutes South, and Interstate 65 is 45 minutes East.

  • Canadian National Rail has 11 miles of Class I rail line in the Southwestern corner of the county.

  • Three ports with access into the Gulf of Mexico within 45 minutes to 1.5 hours from Greene County.

  • Three regional airports in three directions average 1 hour from Greene County.

  • Leakesville Junior High School 5th Grade through 8th grade

  • Leakesville Elementary School with 460 students PreK through 4th grade
